Top 5 guitarists you have never heard of...... #2 Rob Caggiano of VolBeat, formerly of Anthrax. Unless you are a huge Anthrax fan (as I am from way back.... One of my top 3 bands and my long time favorite), you probably dont know of him. He joined the band in 2001, but with only 2 releases in 10 years (Weve Come For You All and Worship Music) and the time lapses in Big 4 releases, Rob probably wasnt on anybodys radar. I saw them in 2004 in a club in Fayetteville NC (Jesters) when the did a club tour in support of WCFYA. I even called Heather from the show when they played Safe Home so she could hear it over the phone. Rob co-produced the last few Anthrax records and also produced Volbeats records. He is insanely talented. One of those guys like Michael Wilton who shreds while making eye contact with everybody in the room. This video isnt a true solo kind of thing, but he does some cool stuff on it. Check out his solos on Worship Music. Unlike Dan Spitz, all of Robs solos fit and make sense within the context of the song. I love Dan, but.... Hes no Rob. So here he is....
