Well Im back home from Las Vegas...after a 18 hour drive! But you dont care about that you want to hear the results! So the rules of the the colt start state that you have to getting controlled forward movement in the first few rounds, walk trots canter...which is fine, but not part of my program. My program is built around building relationships! I find pushing a horse horse into canters in a confined space turns the trainer into a predator in the beginning, causing you to have to fix things later...it makes for a better show, but I will never sacrifice the principles I believe in for a win. So going into the final round I was sitting last place... :,-( behind by 10-20 points. Now the final round puts your training methods to the test!! Youre in a open arena...no round pen! You have to walk, trot, canter, stop, back up, pick up feet, drag logs, rope a barrel, walk over a tarp, and more...with only about 3 hours of riding on your horse! And... we had 15 mins on day three to prepare to enter that arena! So me and that wonderful little horse stepped into that arena sitting last and gave LAS VEGAS a show they would never forget!! We Aced the trail course!...Not one bobble! Walk, trot, canter, perfect! Trap, log drag, perfect! The horse picked all four feet up with a touch of the finger on each leg!!…perfect! I wanted to carry that amazing horse around the arena on my shoulders I was so proud of him! So I didnt win :,-( but thats ok! I was able to show of my program and how far relationship building can take you with your horse! And I could not have asked for a better group of amazing horse trainers to compete agains! They were all absolutely phenomenal and first place could not have went to a better man! I still think Colt Starting Challenge USA is an amazing even and I will continue competing and promoting it! My next competition will be in Denver Colorado! At the Rock-mountain Horse Expo, March 13th, 14th, and 15th! Hope to see you there!
