Top of the morning! By posting the following on yesterday in B.Y.O.B. (Bring Your Own Blackness), I learn that my Godmother Pamela Fingers has been life long friends with James Merediths wife. I dont know about anybody else, but small reminders such as these are exciting and encouraging at the same time. In that we are all reminded of the fact that a part of our history, and one of the voices of our struggle as a people, is still alive and here to give an account of his own story. There are many of our family members and ancestors who did not meet the same fate. And as Nina Simone so eloquently put it, To me we have a culture that is surpass by no other civilization, but we dont know anything about it. My job is make them curious enough and to persuade them by hook or crook to get in contact with history and their culture. And this is what compels me, to compel them..... Happy Saturday and have a good one!
