Topic: Repentance Is It! TEXT: ACTS 3:11-26 KEY VERSE: “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord” (Acts 3:19). Bible miracles are occurrences that seemingly set aside natural laws. At the same time, they reveal God’s omnipotence to the eyes of faith, thereby demonstrating some important biblical truths. Miracles involve a good measure of genuine biblical faith, an observable physical need and a perfect work of God’s grace. Miracles are signs that are intended to point the recipient and other witnesses to the all-powerful God and should clearly be distinguished from mere satanic magic. Through the name of Jesus and the power in that name, the lame man in our text was made to walk. The people’s obvious surprise and amazement made Peter to talk about Jesus and the privileges and power available in knowing Him. He then invited them to repent of their sins. Salvation is the greatest miracle that can happen to anyone today. Yes, it is good to be healed, for the lame to walk and the blind to see, but this should not be the hallmark of our preaching. In many churches, great emphasis is laid on healing and deliverance, while ‘go and sin no more’ homilies have been laid aside. Repentance is the central theme of the Scripture as the holy God calls fallen man to Himself through repentance and contrition of heart. That this all- important subject has been seemingly relegated to the background does not in anyway subvert its undying imperative. If you are in the church but you are yet to repent, you are wasting your precious time and life. If you are a believer and you are not preaching the gospel of repentance, you are not a true disciple. The gospel message of Christ must be preached by those who have truly repented of their sins and have received the forgiveness of the Lord. THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: God’s blessings are for the penitent and the contrite at heart.
