Training has payed off....Theres no one still in my life that knows of the period of training I went through went I first came to Atlanta. Having been through Infantry, mountaineering, and Ninjutsu training under people like Les Leslie, I found myself in a new place, with no money and friends, so I turned to scaling buildings and infiltrating urban perimeters to keep the skillset alive. Tonight, a clear sky and beautiful moon took me back and inspired me to get really far off the ground in an abandoned housing project. A perfect dismount that Spiderman would have been jealous of included a quick grab onto a piece of infrastructure about twenty feet up that, had it supported my weight and directional change, would have landed me on my feet, silently and effortlessly. It did not, however, and I remember my back crashing through something and then landing safely in a safe fall position. A. Thanks, Les, and my Shuai Jiao/Jujutsu masters for teaching me how to fall. B. Thanks, Muay Thai colleagues, for teaching me that even the worst charlie horse in the history of mankind (quadricep takes brunt of fall on concrete) can be walked off C. Thank you, spiritual teachers and colleagues for the fact that my first reaction (after the initial vulgarity) was to belly laugh, long and hard, and give thanks I was ok, and laugh some more...and to accept with grace that I may be getting a bit old for that sort of thing. D. Thanks, U.S. Infantry, for the ability to walk home in pain that would have a lesser man calling for an ambulance. Pic of moon was worth it. Cant upload from Chinese phone to FB, though. I think I just had a near-life experience.
