Transcending tragedy and injustice to bring on joy for the kids, RIGHT ON, Anita, Dionne, and OShaine Family !! Anita Wills Myself and the family of OShaine Evans went to Stockton yesterday to participate in a rally and toy giveaway. On arrival we learned that part of the event was canceled on facebook because a policeman got ran over. Mind you the person that ran him over is not part of any protest. So we decided to take our protest to the Stockton Police Department. We marched down the middle of the road and blocked an intersection for about 15 minutes. Someone threw ice at us, and missed, and others were blowing their horns. After all we were in between them and the shopping mall. Then we moseyed on down to the police station. Low and behold the media were there not for us but for the policeman who had been run over. But when they saw Dionne and the rest of us they changed focus. The police did not know what to do since now the media and cameras were on our protest. One of the officers told us that they would not bother us as long as we stayed on the sidewalk. He made sure to say that in front of the cameras. We had the family of Luther Brown, James Rivera Junior, OShaine Evans, Kerry Baxter Junior, and some who I just met. When one of the News Cameras was pointed at me, I shouted, We charge California with Genocide The lights on the camera went out when I said Genocide. Come to think of it no one really wants to say that word out loud. After the march we went to an apartment complex and gave away toys. That is what being an activist is about. Not just protesting but making a dufference. Surprisingly Stockton Police did not show up with tanks and riot gear. Like they did in May. Thats okay v because we got the pictures from May. Carry On!
