Treating with our traffic woes on the Eastern Main Road. Dear Minister Rambachan, in the campaign of 2010 I made a public promise to my then soon to be constituents in the Constituency of St Joseph that I would recommend the opening up of the Priority Bus Route to the general public in order to alleviate unaddressed traffic woes and unfathomable suffering of commuters traveling through St Joseph, Champs Fleurs, Mt Hope, Petit Bourg and San Juan itself. The people gave me a huge mandate to represent them in the Parliament for the five year term of the Tenth Parliament. In this the fifth year I recommend on their behalf and on behalf of all East West commuters that you convert both the EMR and the PBR into one way thoroughfares one traveling east and one traveling west and convert the link roads all along the way into one way connectors in the alternate as one proceeds. Enforce no parking on one side of the EMR and that would allow for at least two and in some areas three roads of traffic traveling into and out of Port of Spain. Unless we think outside the box we are condemned to get stuck in the mire of failure and what prevails now is an unjust and failed transport system- EMR in gridlock while the PBR just feet away is empty!
