Tribe - is a community of people tied together through a common or several ancestor(s), cultural customs, religion, race and language Corporation/Association - is a business or organization formed by a group of people, and it has rights and liabilities separate from those of the individuals involved... Tribal customs/laws - Are preset rules pre-set by those who came before us in which we are to govern and live our lives by as a Native society Constitution/by-laws - Are Business guidelines set by so members of a Corporation to govern a business and ensure there is order for providing a service and indicates who is able to receive and disqualified to do so for the purpose of providing a service or make revenue. Tribe meets the needs of the people/Corporation meets the needs of the business not the employees/participants... We need to really get back in touch with what we are doing: You cannot run a tribe like a business nor can you run a business like a Tribe.. This is where many Tribes from North to South/East to West are failing.. because of lack of knowledge of tribal customs or laws..or just down right ignorance we are losing our way..we can accept or deny individuals as part of a Corp/Ass but we cannot deny anyone of being part of a Tribe that is their Birthright/bloodright.. Perhaps when those who do not have the blood quatum to be members of Tribes/Nations we need to re-word our responses to include that the individual is native (whatever tribe) but does not meet the criteria for being a full member of the tribal organization... Uhmmm just a thought..
