Tropical Storm "NANDO" Tropical Cyclone Archive | Tropical Cyclone Warning for Shipping PAGASA Track as of 2 p.m., 27 August 2013 Weather Bulletin Number EIGHT Tropical Cyclone Warning: Tropical Storm "NANDO" (KONG-REY) Issued at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, 27 August 2013 Tropical Storm "NANDO" has maintained its strength and continues to move closer towards the Batanes Group of Islands. Location of Center: (as of 4:00 p.m.) 220 km Northeast of Aparri, Cagayan or 190 km Southeast of Basco, Batanes Coordinates: 19.5°N, 123.6°E Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 75 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph Movement: North Northwest at 15 kph Forecast Positions/Outlook: Wednesday afternoon: 100 km North of Basco, Batanes or 210 km East of Southern Taiwan Thursday afternoon: 580 km Northeast of Basco, Batanes or 180 km Northeast of Northern Taiwan Areas Having Public Storm Warning Signal PSWS # Luzon Signal No. 2 (61-100 kph winds) Batanes Group of Islands Signal No. 1 (45-60 kph winds) Cagayan Calayan Babuyan Group of Islands Apayao Isabela Estimated rainfall amount is from 10 - 25 mm per hour (heavy - intenese) within the 400 km diameter of the Tropical Storm. Residents of areas under Public Storm Warning Signals # 2 and 1 as well as those living in the Ilocos Region, Zambales and Bataan are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides. Likewise, those living in coastal areas under storm signal # 2 are alerted against storm surges. "NANDO" will continue to enhance the Southwest Monsoon which will bring light to moderate with at times heavy rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon. Sea travel is risky over the western and eastern seaboards of Luzon. The public and the disaster coordinating councils concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 11 PM today.
