True maturity comes from God, and is produced through trials: James 1:2. This growing up thing is not easy. I respect the people who have grasped it. Their hallmark is perseverance, and tolerance/forbearance for others who fall short of the mark. Immaturity, by contrast, does not tolerate deviations from the personal standard, is quick to judge and condemn others. Maturity is not produced easily. It takes the courage to accept the true truths about ourselves; often we have issues we would rather not admit to ourselves. Some are big, and others are small little niggling things. Mature individuals can face themselves with absolute honesty and grace. They can exercise forbearance and patience with themselves when they fall short of the mark. Similarly they can help others do the same without offending or condemning them. This is Godly maturity. God is Love; He is totally non judgemental, and only He gives us the safe space to reflect on the uncomfortable parts of ourselves, as well as the courage to go about changing for the better. God is not driven by condemnation. Romans 8:1: For there is now no more condemnation for them that are in Christ Jesus" The beauty of it is that when we allow ourselves to mature in non judgemental honesty with self, we have an excellent opportunity to change for the better, and produce a self we are truly and deeply comfortable with.
