!!!!! Trying to book a honeymoon trip in Aruba. AARP Travel imposes a 23.4% tax on the hotel room which, it turns out, isnt really a tax at all but is a fee charged by the hotel and/or the travel agency. According to the Aruba tourism site the Room tax is 7.5% and there is a Tourism tax of 2% for a total of 9.5% in government taxes. To make matters worse, the AARP/Expedia travel site doesnt inform you of the 23.4% tax until you get to the payment page of the booking and its NOT included in the total. Ill find out in the morning if cheapcaribbean also partakes in this shoddy business practice. Heres the tourism site link. aruba-travelguide/travel-information/
