Tuesday Tip: In need of some tips on how best to use painter’s tape, like Norton Blue Core Tape? Here’s a few to get you started! For an easier time applying the tape straight to the surface use either your left or right hand to guide the tape while using your other hand to roll about a foot of extra tape off of the surface and press the tape in place. To get cleaner paint lines, don’t apply the tape tight to trim or against a ceiling; instead, leave it away from the edge about 1/16”. This line will blend in with the trim or wall where it meets the ceiling and not be noticeable, and the added space will also make removing the tape easier. Finally, to help prevent bleeding of the paint under the tape you need to flatten the edge of the tape after it is applied. Use a plastic putty knife or a metal spoon to rub on the edge of the tape, thereby sealing the tape against the surface and preventing the paint from bleeding under it.
