Tuesday around 9:30 p.m., deputies from the Ojai Patrol Station, along with detectives from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit, responded to a North Montgomery Street residence for a call of a stabbing. Police officials said they found Pedro Franco, 40, suffering from a single stab wound to his chest. Several others were at the residence at the time, police said. The investigation led to the identification of a suspect, who was still at the residence. He was identified as Cesar Espinoza, 23, of Ojai. He was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon; he also had an outstanding warrant. The circumstances leading up to the incident are still under investigation, and Francos current condition is unknown. According to police, Espinoza is being held in the Ventura County Main Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.
