Turbo project moving forward today. Started working on the inner fender. I bet some of you rust belt guys wish you had a solid battery side fender like this! Seemed almost sacrilegious cutting into this solid, 40 year old sheetmetal. Now you can clearly see how close the turbo elbow is to the heater blower motor as well as where the oxygen sensor would also conflict. After seeing how tight the downpipe will be Im going to go with 2.5 pipe. I will make a removeable cover for the fenderwell to gain easy access to the outside nut and stud for the downpipe or I may consider having a downpipe welded up to the elbow to reach down where it can easily be attached to the exhaust system. Tomorrow I install the cylinder head and maybe run the remote battery wires to its new location in the compartment I made where the rear seat used to be. Fits nicely in the floor well back there. Going to get an Optima battery that has a provision for a vent tube so I dont have to deal with a sealed battery box. Id be curious to see how you did your exhaust downpipe Renai Chip Givens . Oh the engine in there is my stock 2.3....just using it as a temporary tool to locate stuff...
