Two 90 year old Cree men, Joe and Sam, have been friends all their lives. Sam is dying, so Joe comes to visit him. Sam, says Joe, You know how we both have both loved to sing and dance all our lives. Sam you have to do me one favor when you go; somehow youve got to tell me if there are Pow-wows in heaven. Sam looks at Joe from his death bed and says, Joe, youve been my friend many years. This favor Ill do for you. And with that, Sam passes on. It is midnight a couple nights later. Joe is sound asleep when a distant voice calls out to him, Hey Joe....Joe... Who is it? says Joe, sitting up suddenly Who is it? Joe, its me, Sam. Come on, youre not Sam. Sam died. says Joe. Im telling you, its me, Sam! insists the voice. Joe replies, Sam? Is that you? Where are you? Im in heaven, says Sam, Ive got to tell you, Ive got some good news and some bad news. Tell me the good news first, says Joe. The good news, says Sam is that there are pow wows in heaven. You should see the grand entries. They are really keen. Really? says Joe. Thats wonderful! Whats the bad news?
