Tyranny: Elections have consequences. In 2014, that means the losing Obama administration decides to rule by fiat. Case in point: The White House now says Congress cant stop Obamas global warming agenda. I dont believe they can stop us, White House lawyer John Podesta said Monday in a media conference call, referring to President Obamas climate change agenda. I believe the president will complete actions, said Podesta. It is a top priority of his. Podesta accused Kentucky Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell, who will become Senate majority leader in January, of making it a top priority to leave the air dirtier, and outlined some of the stunts that the White House will pull without congressional oversight. Among them is a gift of $3 billion in U.S. taxpayers money that, the Washington Times reports, will go toward a global climate fund meant to help developing countries fight against the effects of climate change. The Times further reported that the White House unveiled on Monday new recommendations from a presidential task force that could cost the federal government more than $100 billion to help local governments across the nation prepare for the consequences of climate change. Apparently the president also expects Americans to cut their carbon dioxide emissions back to about two-thirds of what they were in 2005, as he agreed last week to do — and to do it just because he says so, not because the American people have voted into office candidates who want to go that way. Actually, the opposite is true. Two weeks ago, voters told the administration that they didnt want to follow its irrational, all-about-politics climate policy and sent to Washington representatives who said they would stop the Obama agenda. Podestas threat has no place in a republican form of government. Its the sort of behavior expected from despots. Sadly, we dont see anyone from his party, from the president himself on down, condemning his comments. Its as if the party condones simply bypassing the Constitution when it cant get its agenda passed. This truly is a hallmark of the Democratic Party and the left side of the political spectrum. These groups, which almost perfectly overlap, believe their ideas are so righteous and so essential to the good of the collective that they are willing to violate the Constitution and the liberty it protects to ram through their agenda. Our system of checks and balances designed to prevent one branch of government from becoming an unrestrained and supreme power? It just gets in their way. In March 2013, Obama said I am not a dictator. Were waiting to see some (in)action to back that up.
