U15 Dolphins match report - Leeanne Baker We travelled to windy and cold Eagles grounds this week. We had 14 players this week including 2 new players from Casuarina who have transferred up which is a great boost to numbers for us. Angus and Blaed welcome to Surfers Paradise Rugby Club. We started off slow as the whole team was reshuffled to accommodate for missing and injured players. Eagles are always hard to stop once the ball gets to their backline and they put on some really quick tries in the first half. We did find if we kept the ball in the forwards and powered up the field it seemed to work better for us especially when the wind picked up. The game stopped momentum for our forwards once the Eagles called uncontested scrum and stopped our fierce pack from pushing them all over the field. Blair had an outstanding game again with the boot in converting our two tries and clearing the ball out of the danger zone. Toky scored another try (3 weeks in a row for our big #3) and Christian blazed down the sideline to score. Angus and Blaed played very well in the backline together so we hope that is the start of only better things to come once we have a full team on the field after school holidays and can link some plays together. Keeghan Lyon-Wilson was our player of the day this week as he ran, tackled, supported runners and made metres when he had the ball in the back line and for a big boy, that is not easy task, he did it 100% every time. Final score for our game 39 – 14.
