UNC Youth Arm on a Mission forging ahead like no other Political Youth Group in Trinidad and Tobago. Chairman of the UNC Youth Arm Nicholas Morris speaking to the UNC Constituency Executives at Rienzi Complex Couva yesterday, said that the UNC Youth Arm / UNC Youth on a mission was forging ahead, performing and serving both the Youth and general citizens of Trinidad like no other . The performance of the UNC Youth Arm was due to the support and Brilliant vision of the Political leader and Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar as well as that of the Attorney General. These statements were met with much approval by the 39 executives who all testified of the work of the Youth Arm and involvement of their youth officers. Chairman Nicholas Morris who is serving his second term as Youth Arm Chairman and who has been with the UNC since the age of 15 beginning as the Youth Officer for Arima - pledged to correct the mistakes as well as build on the already excellent performance. Some of the Projects the Chairman Described were UNC Youth Back to School Initiative which saw over 5500 book bags and stationary being given out in 2013 and a total of 8000 in the past three years. Over $20,000 in UWI Scholarships given to less fortunate students who couldnt afford Registration and school books Over 75 Computers given out to Youth of Rural Communities to Promote the Bridging of the Digital Divide including two UNC Youth Computer/Homework Centers located both in Diego Martin and Princes Town The operation of a Legal Clinic which has served and assisted over 100 families and individuals. Over 15 Separate Environmental Projects have been done along with 6 beach clean ups to support to the International Year of Coastal Preservation. The development and execution of the Football for Development Program which has been assisting football teams with funding along with administrative development while providing life skills development for the players. Thus far over 12 teams have benefited. The provision of wheelchairs and supplies along with repairs and the repainting of the homes of so many disabled families. The provision of clothes and relief items to over 1200 families during the floods of 2012 and 2013 in Diego Martin and Central. Launch of the UNC Youth on a Mission Health Campaign Live yuh Life which has been impacting the lives of may young people. Provision of Generators to families without Electricity to allow for a source of light for their children to be able to study at night. Giving all youth a voice via meetings and visits to Youth Groups in the Different constituencies to listen to ideas and issues along with execution of developmental programs including the first Youth Arm to visit Laventille and sit and discuss the youth problems. Active weekly meetings with 100 + Youth present representing an active core membership of 350,with new membership increasing to over 1600 members in the past 6 months. These were just a few of the basic programs Morris stated were being undertaken by the UNC Youth Arm. The Youth Arm is continuing its Connect 41 Program where it has been visiting the different Youth Groups and Village organisations to speak on development and service.
