UNSETTLED WEATHER ON THE WAY… FROSTS SAY GOODBYE! Good evening, I hope your day went well! Some light frosts occurred this morning, and as predicted, we had some low cloud hanging about this morning. Highs rose to 13 as the sun came out during the afternoon. Tomorrow expect some light morning frosts inland, as coastal breezes should keep Christchurch ice free for the first time in 6 days. Winds will develop from the north during the afternoon, and some spits of rain may develop. Expect highs of 15deg Friday is looking a bit damp. We expect some patchy rain to develop during the afternoon, this will be more persistent in South Canterbury. Winds will change SW for a time dropping temperatures to about 11deg. Expect about 10mm of rain. Saturday is also looking wet as our high pressure system that has been with us for the past week, moves eastwards. Expect patchy rain once again with SW winds. Rain totals of about 5-10mm are expected once again with highs of 12deg. OUTLOOK: Long range models are showing a large depression moving down from the NW, and parking itself to the east of the South Island over the later parts of the weekend and into next week. This is expected to drop a significant amount of rain over the region once again. Details are still coming to hand, but at this stage winds should be from the South East, dropping the snow level to about 500-600m, hopefully giving Mt Hutt a good dumping. We will keep you updated as details come to hand, but our settled weather is certainly being thrown out the window. Have a great night, and Russell will be back tomorrow morning! -Josh
