UPDF flew Mao to Nairobi for treatment UPDF helicopter The Uganda Peoples Defense Forces (UPDF) took responsibility for flying Democratic Party (DP) President Nobert Mao from Gulu to Nairobi, Mathias Nsubuga, Secretary General for DP revealed on Thursday. Nsubuga said General Katumba Wamala the Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) played a critical role in coordinating the airlifting of Mao from St.Mary’s Hospital Lacor in Gulu District to Nairobi. He did not say which type of aircraft carried Mao, but residents around Lacor Hospital say they saw a UPDF helicopter land in the area around the time news reports state Mao had been transported. Nobert Mao contracted Pneumonia” Dan Kidega a brother to Democratic Party (DP) President Nobert Mao yesterday updated the press on Mao’s condition. He said that Mao has been diagnosed with Pneumonia. Kidega an East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) delegate was briefing the press at Parliament that his brother is stable and will be discharged soon. He said that initially Mao showed signed of having malaria, but then his condition deteriorated which prompted his family to organize for this transportation to Nairobi. He is currently admitted at Nairobi Hospital. In a related development, Jacob Oulanyah Deputy Speaker of Parliament and long term colleague of Mao briefed the press that Mao is recuperating well.He denied allegations that Mao had passed on.
