URGENT WARNING Animal abuse, particularly against cats, is now common place in this country. We have received reports of huge numbers of cats going missing in BANGOR; ANTRIM; NEWTOWNABBEY & LARGE AREAS OF EAST BELFAST, but is prevalent throughout the province. We believe some are being stolen for dog baiting and others are being deliberately killed by hunting dogs. As the authorities appear powerless to to prevent this or unable to prosecute the perpetrators, the responsibility falls on you, the cats owners, to protect them from this brutality. The only way to ensure your cats safety is TO KEEP THEM INDOORS AT ALL TIMES! 7th Heaven have long advocated keeping cats indoors, these latest extremely disturbing reports reinforce this point. It is apparent that animal abuse in Northern Ireland is now rampant and out of control. Remember as has long been recognised by criminal profilers and law enforcement agency such as the FBI, todays animal abuser is tomorrows serial killer. It is time to stamp this out. It is time that everyone, in every community, says we are no longer prepared to accept this. We are no longer prepared to accept animal abusers in our community. They need to be treated like child abusers and need to be completely ostracized. Community, church leaders and politicians need to take the lead to make animal abuse totally unacceptable. Report any incidents of suspected animal abuse to the police and the animal welfare officers. Involve your politicians. Remember these people work for you the public, they are paid by you and must listen to your concerns. Northern Ireland is no longer a safe place to let your animal roam. Keep it safe; keep it inside!
