Ugandan journalists under their umbrella organization the human rights network for journalists (HRNJ) celebrated the world press freedom day in style on May 2, 2014. They cleaned central police station (CPS) and donated some cleaning materials to the Police in an effort to bridge the gap between the Police and the media. Among the items included cleaning items like; brooms, brushes, buckets, spades, squeezers, dust bins, gloves. This was at the Central Police Station Kampala where the President of HRNJ Robert Sempala handed over the cleaning equipments to the DPC Namuwoza Dennis. The DPC thanked the journalists for the items they donated to Police. “There has always been negative reporting, there have been accusations on each other, but today is the beginning of a good relationship,” said the DPC. “I can assure you that for us as police, we are much willing to cooperate with everyone to protect journalists in our work, we complement each other,” he assured the media. The journalists went ahead to clean around the station by sweeping, slashing among other activities.
