Uhg, the freezers are working overtime with this heat. Now top that off with trying to keep everyone cool (fans everywhere and lots of water) and then losing power from a car wreck that took out a power pole this afternoon. No power, no water since we are on a well. We were prepared with back up water tanks for the hogs but we did lose some baby rabbits and 2 chickens to the heat. Hopefully power will be back on around 2 am. Lesson learned. Losing power in the summer brings all sorts of different challenges than then during the winter. Buy the biggest back up generator you can afford, losing 9 freezers full of meat could be devastating not to mention the loss of some of your critters.
