Under 15 Subway National League Ballymoor 5-2 Maiden City Academy Maiden City suffered their second defeat of the season against local side Ballymoor conceding five goals, their heaviest defeat for a long time. City were on top in the opening exchanges but failed to take advantage of the chances that fell their way. Ballymoor took the lead very much against the run of play. A free kick just outside the box came back off the wall and fell kindly to the free taker whose shot evaded Shane Wallace. City got back on level terms when Jack Malone finished off a good move with an excellent header. A short time later, Odhran McCrossan scored a great goal from twenty yards. Cahir McMonagle controlled the ball well and laid it back to Odhran McCrossan who powered his way past two Ballymoor players before unleashing his unstoppable strike. For City this was to be the high point of their performance as unfortunately a catalogue of errors and lack of desire and effort saw Ballymoor dominate the rest of the game and come away with a well deserved victory. Almost immediately Ballymoor got an equaliser when an innocuous through ball saw Shane Wallace stranded well off his line allowing the Ballymoor forward to chip him. The second half saw the introduction of Adam Doherty and Oran McGill replacing Ethan Coll and Aodhan Bishop. Another piece of poor defending allowed Ballymoor to take the lead when Shane Wallace was caught well out of position allowing the Ballymoor forward to tap in to the empty goal. Citys reaction to going behind was poor. Ballymoor played much better football for the remaining twenty minutes and scored two more well deserved goals. In the end City could have conceded more and were fortunate to escape with five goals against. City will be looking for a much improved and disciplined performance in next weeks game against Institute.
