“Under God” is under fire at one New Jersey school district, where a family is suing to remove the phrase from the Pledge of Allegiance. A family is suing Matawan-Aberdeen Regional School District over the pledge, because they claim that it violates their atheist beliefs. Now, a New Jersey teenager is fighting back, planning to go to court to defend her right to say the Pledge of Allegiance just as it is. Samantha Jones spoke to Neil Cavuto on “Your World” today about her fight to save the phrase “under God.” She told him that the phrase “acknowledges that our rights don’t come from the government but from a higher power, so they can’t take away the rights.” Jones said that America is a country where so many people have different beliefs, and all of those beliefs – including those of atheists – are protected by “one nation under God.” “I don’t think that it’s as much about religion as it is about our rights. Everyone has the right to remain silent but they don’t have the right to silence everybody else.” Cavuto remarked that Jones is fighting for a school that’s not even hers. “Well I figure He died for me, I might as well stand up for His name,” she said. https://youtube/watch?v=TWUmzABYZGQ
