Unfortunately, there were quite a number of people in our region this weekend who were affected by serious, potentially life-threatening events. But they would also be much worse off, if it werent for your life-saving donations and support keeping our Rescue Choppers in the air: - On Saturday 27th September, the Christchurch-based Westpac Helicopter team were called to Bowenvale Track where a 38 year old male mountain bike rider suffered a serious head injury after falling onto rocks. The helicopter then flew to Mt Alexander repeater site in the Hurunui District to a 63 year old male who suffered a cardiac event. On a third mission the helicopter responded to Leithfield in North Canterbury to a 53 year old male who suffered a serious hand injury due to a log-splitting accident. Finally at twilight they responded to the Nelson Top Ranges for a Beacon activation where a 20 year old male hunter was found bluffed and suffering hypothermia in deteriorating weather conditions. All patients were subsequently treated at the scene and transported to Christchurch Public Hospital - by the rescue helicopter that YOUR DONATION makes possible.
