University at Buffalo is doing a PAID study on teens age 13-17, here is the link. The Nutrition and Health Research Lab is beginning a new study in January 2014. The Teen Snack Study will require two visits to our laboratory. The purpose of the study is to determine how repeated intake of snack food for two weeks will affect the preferences of adolescents. We are looking for adolescents between the age of 13 and 17. We can only accept one child per household. If you decide to participate in this research study, you and your child will be asked to visit the Nutrition and Health Research Laboratory for two sessions. The sessions will take place between 2 – 6 PM, at UB South Campus, approximately 2 weeks apart. Before the first session your child should stop eating and drinking anything other than water 3 hours before the appointment. On the first visit you and your child will complete consent forms and questionnaires. In addition, the child will play a computer game. You will then be given 14 portions of snack food to take home, selected based on your child’s ratings. You and your child will be informed that your child should consume one portion per day for two weeks. You and your child should keep a daily list of foods and drinks consumed by your child in a habit book provided to you. During the second visit, you will return all empty containers to the laboratory and your child will complete a questionnaire about the food and play the computer game once again. Your child will also be asked to recall everything consumed the previous day. At the end of the session, your child will have his/her height and weight taken and you and your child and be debriefed. Each child will be paid in the form of a Target or Walmart gift card. If you are still interested in participating in our study please complete our online eligibility screening found at: https://surveymonkey/s/teensnackstudy. We will be in touch with you about whether your child is eligible to participate in this study.
