University debate on Human rights in challenging security contexts Tuesday 9 December from 10 am to 12 am - Beirut Arab University - Abdel Nasser Hall On the occasion of Human Rights Day, the Delegation of the European Union to Lebanon has the pleasure to invite you to a University Debate on Human rights in challenging security contexts. The debate is jointly hosted with the Human Rights Centre at Beirut Arab University and will take place on Tuesday December 9, 2014, from 10am to 12am at the universitys Abdel Nasser Hall, Beirut Campus. This university debate will aim to foster an exchange on how to further strengthen human rights standards in Lebanon, a country that has been traditionally a regional forerunner in upholding political and civil liberties. The session will also address how a human rights-led approach to international cooperation has been applied so far, and take stock of the challenges Lebanon and its international partners face in this area of work. English and Arabic translation will be provided.
