Unpleasant changes in Bangui - Friends, I have pictures to post to my album of this visit to Bangui, Central African Republic, but our internet has been very slow for a couple of days now. I will say that we were able to have a meeting with the teachers that work with the orphans yesterday (Wednesday) and it was helpful. But we had to cut the meeting short because of shooting in the vicinity where we were meeting. Later, we learned that a church where people had been seeking refuge from gunfire in the area had been attacked with grenades and shooting out in the area of town where we were meeting. From reports, 11 people were killed in the attack by the Seleka Muslim extremists. Today, there have been demonstrations in the streets, with roads being blocked by people demanding that the government do something about the church attack yesterday. Getting from one part of the city to another right now is not possible, so we are staying put at the Grace Brethren mission. Last week, things were fairly calm, except for pockets of unrest in various parts of the city. But things have been quite different this week. Hopefully things will calm down soon. Obviously, your prayers are still needed. Please pray.
