Until The Work Is Done Copyright 2013 Michael Gibbowr Notice Nehemiah’s building of Jerusalem’s Walls and Temple Began with the removing of rubble But halfway through the enterprise There arose an astonishing trouble The People lost heart in the effort And began in their exhaustion to complain Requiring a dressing-down for their faltering And a building-up their strength to sustain You see, the People lost sight of the mundane Being the mortar that builds the monuments of life The uneventful the foundation All suitable structures require regardless of the tedium or strife An easy thing to do if you loose sight of your Building-Plan And focus on the inelegant framework on which your edifice will stand Of course this busy, sometimes mind-numbing labor of day to day Required to erect an edifice you hope over time to stay A monument to your vision of what’s possible with a bit of work An expression of your insights and creative quirks Is only possible when the Building-Plan is Complete But keeping a chaotic Building-Site moving forward is a laborious feat This is what Nehemiah faced in no small degree The task of keeping Laborers motivated to complete what he could see The Temple Of Solomon Restored As A Place Of Worship And Hope While Teaching The People working with him The Ability To Cope With the oft uninspiring efforts of day to day In view of the long-term benefit of building A House to Pray For Their Generation and All Generations To Come To Be a Blessing even when your work won’t be recognized until the work is done ~
