Update - Reports of Fires in St. Mary Lake Area (posted: July 31/14 8:10pm) You may have heard reports of two fires up St. Mary Lake way and if you live in that area, may have seen some activity today. Heres a quick update on what is going on. There are two very small spot fires in a remote area west of the Lake. They are both lightning started fires and the Wildfire Management Branch (WMB) responded right away. First with an air tanker on one until the crews could access the area as it is quite remote. Both fires are very small and are being actioned by WMB crews. These types of spot fires are very common following lightning events, particularly during the summer. No structures or communities are threatened at this time.
