Update On Thursday, 24th July, the Lagos State special adviser on public health confirmed that a Liberian national who was on a visit to Nigeria, was infected with the Ebola virus. The government is putting measures in place to ensure that the possible spread of the virus is contained. However, it is important to know that this is not a time to panic, but to equip yourself with the right information, sanitary measures and faith in the Word. You are a child of God and you have the inherent capacity to live above sickness. Let your fears be allayed. The favour of God surrounds you like a shield and you and your family are preserved from disease and danger. There are also practical steps you can take to ensure that you are safe and that people around you are protected as well. Some of them include: 1. Observe your environment for persons (especially travelers) with suspected symptoms of Ebola, such as fever, vomiting, stooling, headache, and seek immediate medical attention if you believe you may have been exposed to the virus. 2. As much as you can manage, avoid contact with the bodily fluid of infected persons. This includes blood, tears, excretion, saliva and sweat. 3. Employ proper sanitary measures. Wash your hands and disinfect often especially after contact with suspected carriers of the virus. 4. Avoid bush meat and ensure that your meat is properly cooked. If you must eat out, ensure that the environment is properly sanitized. 5. Have faith in Gods word. Pray and know that He will not fail you. He will preserve you from the destruction that lays waste at noon day. The same Spirit that raised Jesus Christ from death dwells inside of you and quickens your mortal body. God is your defense in these times. You will live and not die, in Jesus name.
