Update from Malama Honua... Aloha, We are on our final leg of the Tahiti to Samoa voyage. We landed at Faleasao, Taʻu, in the Manua Islands, at 11A this morning. The people were absolutely grateful that they were not overlooked on Malama Honuaʻs sail plan. A number of the inhabitants visited the canoes which were rafted up to each other and thanked me personally for making Taʻu of the Navigator Islands part of our journey. We were anchored in an area called The Yellow Sea. For generations, high ranking aliʻi, would assemble for political ceremonies, offshore in Taʻu because the ocean is neutral territory. They would partake in an awa ceremony and the remaining awa would be poured back into the sea, hence, The Yellow Sea. Our next stop is Olosega and Ofu Island where we will deposit gift packages. We will sail through the night and arrive at Pago Pago at dawn. Mahalo for all your support, it has been a fantastic journey.
