Update from frozen horses in Maple Park Last Night. From Lisa Diersen: Good morning, I would like to say Thank You to everyone for helping pass the word around about the horses on Peterson Road in Maple Park last night. The police and TV crews were there late and we had this posting at 11pm from Jenne LeFevre Rosegay and the horses were placed inside the barn by the Sheriff. UPDATE: 11pm 1/7/15 > The Sheriff has helped the owners relocate the horses into the barn, and are fed and watered. Thank you to everyone who called and helped the horses. Lets let law enforcement take care of it now. Thank you Sandy Cello Lang for letting me know that this was happening .....yet AGAIN so close to our farm. I was asked to remove the postings by a few people and Isaid no, stating that one of the ways people find out about abuse and neglect is through this media. I feel very strongly that removing the postings is dishonest and will do nothing but help hide the fact that this abuse happens and right in our own back yards. A few years ago Donna and HARPS rescued a barn full of mares and foals right on Rt 47. From a place that thousands of people drive past every day! Last year the news and the County had to clean out a barn on Beith Road and Rt 47 where there were many dead animals as well as horses and ponies, from a petting zoo operator. Last summer an entire herd of 75 horses were abandoned in Hampshire....again HARPS went to their rescue. What is wrong with people? And if you really want a shocker check into the Roodhouse rescue. These things will be tears to your eyes even if you are not a horse lover. We worked to help rescue hundreds of Lusitano horses abandoned in Oregon a few years ago and to help assure that those horses ended up in safe and happy homes .....not at the slaughter houses in Canada. Together, many people from all over the world, through the power of this media. So, NO, is the answer to not sharing the news about such atrocities the moment we dont do what we can to help the horses is the moment we stop being true horsemen. Our job is to be the voice for the horses and animals. Censoring the news is not what we should do.....informing and enlightening people to what the facts and issues are, is what we should do. Please continue to keep your eyes open to abuse and neglect and make sure you notify the authorities and HARPS or HAHS about what you see. Its the age of video cameras on every phone so people can share what they see. Lets work together to assure that what they share are videos of happy and healthy horses!
