Update on Jonathan Skidmore: Jonathan has been moved to the rehab wing of the hospital. After 3 days of physical and occupational therapy, he is able to close his right hand. Saturday, he walked from his bed to the bathroom to take a shower. He still needs someone to stay close when he gets up and someone to help him bathe and take care of himself but he is getting stronger and steadier each day. The muscles in his right shoulder, the one that required extensive surgery, are so weak that it came out of socket but they said that it will improve as the muscles get stronger. His eyes are still not in sync but they have improved, too. He has an eye patch to wear but didnt have it on when we saw him. They have removed all the staples (at least 50 in one arm alone) except the ones still covered by the cast on his hand. His wounds are healing. Jonathan still has swelling and some blood clots in the brain but each day he is clearer. He was sleepy when we visited him Saturday because it hadnt been very long since he had taken some pain meds but he was able to talk to us some. His pain levels are much improved. The physical therapists told his grandmother that they think he may be released from the hospital in about 2 1/2 more weeks, depending on his progress. When he is released, he will go to Virginia to be with his dad and continue outpatient therapies there. The family appreciates all the prayers that have been prayed for Jonathan. He continues to need our prayers and support for physical, mental, and emotional healing.
