Update on Mike: Hes hanging in there folks! There is even a tiny sparkle back in his eye today. Surgery went well last night on the septic bursa in the elbow. Dr. Whitsett does believe it either caused it, or was keeping him from fighting off the infection. They have installed a wound vac as it is a situation where closing up the area would only allow more bacteria to grow and surface again. Needless to say, its a pretty nasty looking thing but Dr. Herman seemed pretty hopeful that this was the issue and being rid of it will put us on the road to recovery. Unfortunately, it is hard to be sure and just a waiting game right now to see if they are right and the infection can be eliminated. The doctors decided to wait on treating the blood clot until the major trauma of the arm wound can have a chance to heal a bit. We very much appreciate all of your calls, visits, emails, texts, and messages, and most importantly your prayers. I feel so blessed to have had 2 people in my life spared this year despite the horrible positions they were in. Your encouragement is so helpful during this time!
