Update‼️‼️‼️ I received mail from the Mayor of Illesheim, Mr. Förster, yesterday. He was very touched by the feedback of the post. He said, to see how many lives where touched by the tower brought tears to his eyes, especially as his and his familys lives where touched by it as well. The major problem with the tower/chimney is the obstacle illumination. Most of the lights are burned out. In order to replace them, someone would have to climb up on the outside of it. That is impossible since it has become dilapidated. To secure and restore the chimney would be outrageously expensive, especially since it hasnt been used in over 25 years.... Mr. Förster got in touch with Mrs. Sowers of the public relations office in Ansbach and asked to show this post to Col. Benson who is in charge of this area. This way, maybe there is at least a way to get a hold of some of the bricks... Also he attached some pictures of OUR landmark that Im posting along with this....
