Urgent Early Intervention Request -- Make Calls Today and ALL WEEK LONG Dear Parents, colleagues, family and friends, PLEASE PLEASE HELP!! Both agencies and independent providers alike cannot continue to withstand the Bureau of Early Interventions pretense claiming that all is well. Still a year after they passed the current regulation We continue to wait months and months and months for payments of our services while the fiscal agent collects big bucks for telling us how to chase insurance claims instead of doing what they were supposed to do. Consequently children are not getting the services because more and more providers are leaving and if this legislation -that weve worked so hard for -doesnt pass more and more children will not be getting the services that they need to succeed in life! Additionally schools will be further burdened by children requiring services for years to come. And thats spells tax dollars for ALL!!!! While our babies cant call, every friend of UNYEIP can. Phone calls to the Governor and those listed below are URGENTLY needed to continue to move the process forward and ensure that meaningful change occurs in the Early Intervention Program. This Week Could Change Everything for Our Early Intervention Providers and our states most vulnerable children. EVERY FRIEND OF UNYEIP CAN HELP and EVERY FRIEND OF UNYEIP MUST HELP. Please make the following calls today and everyday this week. Speak to Staff & Leave messages on voicemails. Pass on to friends, family, colleagues. 1. Governor Cuomo - (518) 474-8390 (press Option 2 or 3 for staff – you ONLY have to leave your zip code) 2. Assembly Speaker Silver -(518) 455-3791 3. Senator Skelos - (518) 455-3171 4. Senator Klein - (518) 455-3595 5. Senator DeFrancisco(518) 455-3511 6. Assemblyman Farrell(518) 455-5491 7. Your State Assemblyman - (Click here to find yours)assembly.state.ny.us/mem/?sh=search 8. Your State Senator - (Click here to find yours) nysenate.gov/?OpenForm Here’s a script; short and simple: “Hello, My name is __________. I’m a New Yorker (“parent of a child receiving Early Intervention services” OR a “professional working in Early Intervention”) and I care about what happens to Early Intervention services in this State. This program is in crisis, families are facing intolerable wait times, and agencies will close. (49% of agencies surveyed across NYS indicate they are planning to reduce or close their EI programs which will make the situation worse. Independent contractors are leaving the field.) Please incorporate into the budget the provisions of Senate bill S6002 and Assembly bill A8316 to pay therapists timely for their work and decrease their tremendous administrative burden so that children receive services they are eligible for. There is NO ADDITIONAL COST for NY State! Please help our children in EI. With Sincere Thanks for All You Do In Your Work With Our States Most Vulnerable Children
