Despite her thin appearance, Phoebes gaze is gentle and her manners quite fine. Her polite manners seem to extend to other dogs as well; her tail wags gently when greeting those encountered in the backyard. At the park, she is a lovely companion, walking with a certain grace and poise, and standing quietly by my side when we enjoy a restful moment at a park bench. Phoebe joined us as a stray, but her gleaming coat and mindful manners suggest she was a family member at some point, not too long ago. She takes treats gently from my hand, and takes care of business once at the park. What Phoebe needs now is a quiet place to rest her head and find herself once again. Will you be the the family that brings her life back into balance - where love received and love given is unconditional? Phoebe was abandoned on a family’s porch while they were bringing their daughter to school! Phoebe was barely moving when the family returned and found her, so they called ACC for help. When Phoebe got to the shelter, she was weak, dehydrated, and emaciated. X-rays showed that she had a severe pyometra, and was rushed into emergency surgery. Phoebe is recovering very well from her surgery, and now all she needs is a loving family of her own! Phoebe is a gentle and polite pup who would do well in a quiet home. Phoebe did display some resource guarding during her SAFER, and will require some behavior modification to help manage these behaviors. Please help Phoebe find a cozy place to call home and pull her from BACC today! Behavior: New Hope Only Phoebe was very shy and nervous during her SAFER, but did display soft, social behaviors while being handled. She was fearful during the tag item and remained fearful when coaxed after play. Phoebe stiffened, growled and tried to bite the assess a hand during the food and rawhide items. She also became very stiff while growling during the rawhide test. Phoebe was calm and relaxed while approaching the friendly helper dog. Look: 1. Dogs eyes are averted.
