VALIDITY OF A VOTE At this stage, i wish to draw our attention to status of a vote casted. While sorting votes after close of polls at a polling unit, votes are basically categorized as valid or invalid. Hence, invalid votes are wasted votes. From experience, most invalid votes are traceable to uninformed persons. It is therefore paramount to educate our voters on: 1. How to correctly hold on the ballot paper while thump printing in appropriate space provided. 2. Careful handling of the ballot paper after thump printing. 3. Safe-folding of the ballot paper for dropping into ballot box. In many cases, votes are spoilt by over thumping where the indelible ink smears, or the inked thump touches other portions of the ballot resulting into multiple choice and or margins overshoot which renders that vote invalid. GMB votes are precious & must not be allowed to spoil or be spoilt as a result poor handling, carelessness or ignorance. To be continued.
