VERONICA HELEN WARREN, of Atlanta, Georgia passed away December 8, 2014. She is survived by nine children: Robert Warren, Stephen Warren, Veronica Leonard, Maria Warren, Rebecca Sells, Thomas Lee-Warren, Rachel Elliott, Sarai Zyzniewski, and Alexander Warren, as well as 22 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. \r\nShe was preceded by: husband Stephen Warren, son Charles Warren (KIA), half- sister Margaret Ridley \r\nShe was born August 2, 1937 in Birmingham Women’s Hospital, England. Soon after, Veronica and her parents, the late William and Irene Ridley, traveled to South America by ship. While there her father helped established some of the first coffee plantations in the Andes. Veronica returned to England at the start of WWII and lived through the Blitz and the Reconstruction. After WWII she moved to Paris and worked as an au pair while attending Sorbonne University. \r\nVeronica married Stephen in 1957 and raised 10 children while traveling the world as her husband worked for DoDDS-A. After his retirement, they moved back the United States and settled in Virginia. \r\nShe worked for Elizabeth Arden as a national sales leader at Hecht’s Metro Center until her retirement in 2003. She then settled in Atlanta Georgia where she resided at the time of her death. \r\nWhether it was volunteering in her local community, participating in the Senior Mentor Program run by Emory University, giving manicures at the local senior living facility, going to the gym, or simply playing with one of her many grandchildren, Veronica lived every moment of life to its fullest. Friends and family describe her as: passionate, loving, driven, resilient, independent, wise, a mentor, tolerant, a world traveler, the matriarch the glue that held us all together and very, very BRITISH. And with all this she had an immense and strong abiding faith in God. \r\nMass will be celebrated on Monday, December 15th, 10:30AM at Saint Thomas More Catholic Church 636 West Ponce de Leon Avenue Decatur, GA 30030. \r\nIn lieu of flowers, please support the nursing scholarship fund established for Veronica’s son Charles Warren KIA Operation Iraqi Freedom 2005. \r\nTo donate online go to: https://northgeorgia.org/sslpage.aspx?pid=202.
