VIA: LuskStillFightingWaste A public meeting is to be held in the GAA Clubhouse, Lusk on Thursday 5th June at 8.00pm to discuss a proposal to build a waste treatment plant at Regeens, Lusk. The plant is a commercial venture with the capability of processing approximately 33% of the brown bin waste generated by the city area of Dublin, making it one of the largest waste plants of its kind in Ireland. The brown bin waste will be mixed with animal slurry imported from as far away as 50 kilometres to provide the feed stock for this Anaerobic Digester. Residents are concerned that yet another attempt is being made to dump non-local problems in the general Lusk area. A spokesman said that there are concerns regarding the environmental impact on the area, the increase in traffic volumes on the already poor road infrastructure, the potential for long term health issues, foul odours, the effects on property prices for those already in negative equity and the longer term implications of Lusk being seen as the solution to the problems of others.
