VIAM Africa is a Non-Profit Organization devoted exclusively to educational and social issues in sub-Saharan Africa. Founded in August 2013, VIAM seeks to undertake its core operations through its Africa offices and UK headquarters located in Scotland. Currently, we have only one Africa office in Accra, Ghana which is soon to be inaugurated. Our Board of Trustees comprising distinguished academics and professionals provide strategic advice and vision to achieve its goals. In the Latin language, VIAM means a way or path. Thus, VIAM Africa basically means ‘a way for Africa’. Our name was carved from a famous Latin phrase “Aut inveniam viam aut faciam” which means “I shall either find a way or make one.” The phrase is purportedly Hannibal Barca’s response when his generals told him it was impossible to cross the Alps by elephant. It is this tenacity in the face of what appears to be impossible that we seek to practice and propagate.
