VICTORY for US! I just received this today in my Inbox and I thought Id share it with you! This is another victory for voters against the oligarchy and shows what a determined movement against the corporatocracy can do! ` Dear Heather, ` We often write asking for your help, but today we just want to say thank you. Earlier today, Governor Brown signed into law the Ballot Initiative Transparency Act (Senate Bill 1253). It’s an important bill that will simplify ballots for voters and lead to a more transparent initiative process where voters walking into the polls on Election Day will have all the relevant information, such as who is funding those very same initiatives. ` Because of the countless emails and phone calls you have made in support of SB 1253, today we can declare victory! ` The bill was the result of a multi-year collaborative process lead by California Common Cause, which brought together groups across the political spectrum to talk about California’s broken initiative process and how best to fix it. The Ballot Initiative Transparency Act will give voters more accessible information about who is funding ballot initiatives, allow legal flaws to be corrected in initiatives before they appear on the ballot, and lead to simpler, more voter-friendly ballots. ` Thank you again for all of your work and for your part in achieving this crucial reform! ` Cheers, Kathay Feng, Executive Director, and the rest of the team at California Common Cause
