Vacancies at Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights (EIPR) وظائف متنوعة في المبادرة المصرية للحقوق الشخصية Press Officer The Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights is hiring a full time “Press Officer” to be part of the organization’s communications department. Application Deadline: 30 July 2014 Job Responsibilities: The selected press officer will carry out the following tasks: Writes and edits all press releases issued by the organization. Works in close contact with the organization’s researchers to produce media material to promote their work. Refines all material produced by the organization (reports, studies, policy papers, etc) linguistically. Edits all media material produced by the organization’s staff to be disseminated through the organization’s channels or through other media outlets. Helps with writing media material for campaigns, blog posts and events. Monitors the organization’s reach in local and international media and helps developing strategies to enhance the organization’s media recognition. Takes part in drafting notes on the organization’s position to respond to media concerns and questions. Covers and write about human rights violations in a timely and compelling manner. Identifies opportunities to respond to breaking news related to the situation of human rights in Egypt. Contributes to the planning of media campaigns and awareness and advocacy initiatives. Requirements: A bachelor degree in social sciences. A degree in journalism is preferred. Excellent writing skills in Arabic and good working knowledge of English. Passion for human rights causes. Ability to work on tight schedules, meet deadlines and juggle multiple tasks. Familiarity with politics and human rights terminology. Willingness to interview victims of human rights violations in order to produce relevant media material. Interpersonal skills including strong organizational and communications skills. Capacity to work efficiently and quickly under pressure, both independently and as a member of a team. 2-5 years of experience in a relevant field is required. Salary: Salary will be commensurate with experience, and within the range of salaries offered by Egyptian human rights NGOs.
