Vaclav Havel is deceased. At the age of 75. Havel was the first president of the former Czechoslovakia after the fall of the Wall in 1989. Later he was after the split of the two republics, President of the Czech Republic. Havel was president even though he was primarily a writer and performer of freedom and hope. In the years before the fall of the Wall, he was one of the most prominent authors of the Eastern Bloc. Arrested many times and in total he spent five years in prison. He was a well-known dissident and one of the founders of Charter 77. A movement that drew attention to human rights, freedom of expression and democracy in the former communist country. Havel belongs in the small list of people who risk their lives and safety are used for freedom of speech and that gave hope to millions, inside and outside his country. HOPE Deep down, we carry hope: if that is not the case, there is no hope. Hope is the quality of the soul and does not depend of what is happening in the world. Hope is not predict or foresee. It is an orientation of the spirit, An orientation of the heart, beyond the horizon anchored. hope in this deep and powerful meaning is not the same as joy because everything goes well or your willingness to bet for some success. Hope is somewhere for work because it is good, Not only because it is likely to succeed. Hope is not the same as optimism, nor the conviction that something will turn out well.
