Valeo Dances Away With Gutsy Win Article by Andry orcel If my math serves me right, I think this was a game that Lambada Sc needed to win. Or at the very least, could ill afford to lose. Facing the Valeo Young Gunners, the situation was just right for a team that had to win. The stars were perfectly aligned, the weather was exquisite, and the Young Gunners were short (no pun intended). They had to rely on their hobbling coach to complete their starting eleven. Lambada started off right, taking the lead against the much younger but well coached Valeo. But then again, the college ensemble that is Lambada Sc went back to playing this uninspiring brand of football. Defending only when it was too strenuous, and mounting one feeble attack after another. The tying goal was imminent. It is halftime, it is 1-1…you’re still fine Lambada…they have a young team….the experience is on your side. You have 5 players on your bench….they have a 6 months pregnant #14. Just talk about it, you’ll be aight. But as I looked at both benches, Valeo FC huddled around, attentively listening to their coach. On the other side, the Lambada Sc players were lying around, sitting around, walking around and enjoying the gorgeous weather. One last, ‘Let’s Go!!!’ before they got on the field and on we go. It didn’t take long to see which team made the necessary adjustments for the 2nd half. As the defensive errors started to pile for Lambada, Valeo’s lead grew. Soon it was 3 to 1, after Valeo’s #14 rumbled and stumbled on a free ball, and stuck it in the back of the net. But the goal that sent Coach Bernard into labor-like agony was a goal by Valeo’s young striker who beat two defenders, and dribbled around the goalie before slipping the ball into the net. The crowd erupted in appreciation. As I see it, there’s only so much a coach can do. Coach Bernard is a decent man from what I can see, so I doubt he forced those young men to play for his team at gun point. The shame of it all falls on the Lambada players. For even if you don’t have the skills to bend a ball around a wall, playing with a purpose and defending with verve does not require much skill. It asks only that you respect the commitment you’ve made to that team, its coaches and yourself. youtube/watch?v=6InEIa86Mbo&feature=share&list=UU-yO6dML84pCBJolAKYsRLQ
