Very few people were unaffected by the federal government closure. - TopicsExpress

Very few people were unaffected by the federal government closure. For some it meant not be able to access or receive payment or services they should have been able to, for some they had to alter vacation plans, or maybe they just couldnt make financial choices in the context of the uncertain climate. And then there were the people in the private sector for who it meant the entire loss of their income - with no hope for any restitution or repayment. The figure that I keep hearing is that the shutdown cost $24 billion in purposeless destruction. That doesnt count the human costs. And that doesnt begin to include the cost of the long term impact to our standing in the international community. And on top of The Sequestration already in force, we lost two weeks productivity from our public servants -- the government servants who really do serve us. We will pay them for the time they were off, but we will will not get their service for that compensation!!! During the next few weeks there will be continued debate about, almost entirely in the conservative media complex, as to whether the Republicans won or lost in this showdown and there will even be a debate and an entire cottage industry at work spinning the whole thing and saying that the GOP never wanted this shutdown and that President Obama refused to negotiate. B-U-L-L-C-R-A-P ! ! ! Now we know how many House Republicans still, still, STILL , after 16 days want to destroy the US economy. 144 House Republicans voted for default, and against raising the debt limit. 18 Senators voted for default, and against raising the debt. The Republicans had a list of ransom demands that read like a GOP Christmas wish list* ;) The Republicans extracted NOTHING!!!!!! The Democrats paid NOTHING!!!!!! Oh, wait! Let me congratulate the 85 House Republicans and 18 Senate Republicans who bravely decided to do their job and courageously cast their vote to end the manufactured crisis they created by reopening government and agreeing to pay our debts: hip hip hurray, hip hip hurray, hip hip hurray. yay republicans. The ENTIRE Republican agenda has been to prevent 30 million Americans from being able to PURCHASE healthcare insurance and to destroy Americas first black president. Where do they go from here? * ;) full disclosure. I dont usually censor myself. I was inspired to say a GOP _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ fantasy, a phrase I have never thought before in my life - much less uttered out loud - until seeing a list of the GOP demands. But Kat strongly encouraged me to censor my post to say GOP Christmas wish list)
