Very powerful.... out of their need, they freely give... America is arguably the Richest Nation in the entire World. And yet most Americans still borrow money to keep buying more and more and even more. They dont even give the smallest amount (10%) to their local church, often saying that they just cant afford it... and yet they spend, spend, spend... on themselves. I live in rich America. I have been trying to raise money to buy 100 goats to help 400 orphans in Uganda. My donation jar is on the counter of a VERY busy business, seen by tons of people each day. After five months, there is only about $50 in the jar. Because we Americans just dont have enough money to be able to share with the very poor. UGH. In stark contrast...I have a friend who lives in Uganda. He totally took care of himself from the age of 11 or 12. He worked very, very hard and paid his own way through school (there are no grants where he is from). Now he is the Pastor of a small church with only 40 members. All of those members are extremely poor...like RIDICULOUSLY poor. They are barely surviving, and often go without food. Recently those 40 members ADOPTED 20 orphans. Out of their need, they freely and generously gave. People dont suddenly become generous when they get wealth. Whatever spirit they have when they are poor, will just be magnified when they get rich. If they were greedy and self-centered when poor, they will be even more so when they have money. If they were generous and loving when they were poor, then they will be more-so when they have money. Money is the Great Magnifier... and it exposes the purity or the impurity of our heart better than almost any other test.
