Very proud of my people last night at the special moving screening of Mr Pip. As MC I was very proud of not only the film itself (about my mothers islands) but the audience welcomed me and raised a lot of much needed money to support a local clinic in the islands. In true island style a pig was raffled off (the pig did not come to the cinema!) and there was lovely dancing in traditional grass skirts which Im sure this inner city boutique cinema has never seen before. It was a pleasure to meet actress Florence Korokoro and I hope our paths cross again - although not in front of the camera - Im no Hollywood actress! Florence youd have to go to the smaller screen like me! A special thank you to my friends and family who were there. If you havent seen it please do!
